SIOUX CITY - Russel Milton Jackson, 8o, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Russel M. Jackson was born May l, 1929, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Charles M. and Edith A. (Scoles) Jackson. He lived his early years in the Mapleton area until moving to Sioux City in 1951. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Missouri Valley Machinery until an accident at work forced him into retirement.

He enjoyed spending time with his wonderful family and many friends. He enjoyed the great outdoors with his hobbies of fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a huge country music fan.

Survivors include his sons, David of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeff and his wife, Becky of Sioux City; daughters, Patty Bode of Hinton, Iowa, and Janie Padilla of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; his brother, Robert of Bellevue,
