Laurie A. Hartz

LAWTON, Iowa - Laurie A. Hartz, 48, of Lawton died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Laurie was born Dec. 26, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of James and Bernadette (Eischeid) Harrison. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1979. She worked for UPS for several years before going back to college. She graduated from Briar Cliff University with a degree in accounting in 2007. Most recently, she was working for the Farmers Co-op Company in Hinton in the accounting department.

She married Edward D. Hartz on June 2, 1979, in Sioux City.

Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family, boating, horseback riding, camping and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Edward of Law-ton; two daughters, Christina Hartz and her special friend Jonathan Howard of Omaha, Neb., and Cara Hartz and her fiance Nathan Nelson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; her parents, James and Bernadette Harrison of Omaha; a sister, Cathy Sedlacek and her husband David of Omaha; a brother, Steve Harrison of Glenwood, Iowa; her mother- and father-in-law, Lyle and Frances Hartz of Hinton, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Ronald and Deb Hartz of Dakota Dunes, S.D..; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Hartz and Jon Spray of Dallas, Texas, and Kathy Bledsoe and Rich Klemmensen of Lawton; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Howard, Nathan Nelson, Ronald Jason, Travis Jartz and Dave Sedlacek.

A memorial has been established in her name.
