SIOUX CITY- Miriam D. Christopherson, 89, of Sioux City died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at her residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Private graveside services will be Thursday in Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyer-broschapels.com.

Miriam was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Washta, Iowa, to Warren and Erma (Hiller) McQueen. She graduated from Pierson (Iowa) High School.

She was married to Delmar A. Christopherson on July 4, 1938. He preceded her in death in August 1985, in Sioux City.

She was a past member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she was an active member of the church circle and altar guild. She loved to garden and do handcrafts. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Joan) Christopherson of Centennial, Colo.; a daughter, Debbie Delaney of Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Christopherson of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Daker (Theresa) McQueen of Pierson, Iowa; five grandchildren, Donna, Annette, John, Michael and Katie; and six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kaylah, Katlin, Tyler, Abbi and Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gary; and a sister, Thelma Vanbuskirk.
