The Rev. Ruby L Reynolds

SIOUX CITY - The Rev. Ruby Lee Reynolds, 74, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of El Dorado, Kan. and Sioux City, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Topeka.

Services will be l p.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.carlsoncolonial.com.

Ruby was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Dothan, Ala., to the late Joe and Leona Perry. She was married to the late Alfred Tubbs in July 11, 1953. She later married the late Charles Reynolds Jr. on Nov. 7,1970.

She was ordained as a minister in 1980 at Mount Sinai Pentecostal Church. She worked as a labor and delivery technician at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, where she helped deliver one of her grandsons. After moving to El Dorado in 1981, she worked as a nurse's aid at Knutson Manor Nursing Home. She later graduated from Butler County Community College with an AS in nursing. She worked as a dedicated and compassionate nurse until her retirement in 2007.

She was an active member of Riverside Church of God in El Dorado until moving to Topeka in 2008. She loved to spend time with her family, go to Bible study and prayer, spend time with all her children and grandchildren. She also loved to sew and cook for everyone.

She is survived by her biological brother, Joseph Frank Perry of East Orange, N.J.; five children, Lola Neely and Leona Davis of Topeka, Alvin Tubbs of Hutchinson, Kan., Solomon Tubbs of Lakewood, N.J., and Chaulie Reynolds of El Dorado; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five spiritual daughters, Patricia Woodbury, Velma Wilson, Beverly Tubbs, Jamie Reynolds and Claudia Hawthorne; and extended family, Cleo Griffie, Helen Reynolds, Alice Reynolds, Iris Brown, David Reynolds, Joe Reynolds, Rodney Reynolds, Johnny Reynolds and Ayanna Rice.
