Note: Her mother's maiden name was Robinson. The birth year on her gravestone was 1867.
Mrs. Alkire Was Member of Well Known Family.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Smith, of the Grand Central hotel, went to Sioux City on Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Walter Alkire, a sister of Mrs. Smith.
Mrs. Alkire died at a hospital in Sioux City on Wednesday after an illness caused by typhoid fever.
Mrs. Alkire was a resident of LeMars for many years before going to Sioux City to live. Her maiden name was Emily Pendleton her father, John Pendleton now deceased, being a pioneer of Akron vicinity.
Mrs. Alkire was twice married. She is survived by her husband, Walter Alkire, a daughter, Mrs. Frank Tenger, of Westfield and two sons, Herbert and Bert Mann, of Sioux City. She also leaves to mourn her age mother, Mrs. John Pendleton, three brothers, Edward, Jesse and William, a sister, Mrs. Lou Ogden, all of Akron vicinity and a sister, Mrs. Jos. Smith, of Le Mars.
The funeral services were held in the chapel at Graceland cemetery in Sioux City, on Friday afternoon and the interment made there.
