SIOUX CITY -- Everett Lee, 83, of Sioux City died peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at North Park Retirement Community.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Chuck Wolff officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Everett Lee was born in 1925 at Irene, S.D., the son of Johie and Gina (Bakke) Lee. He was raised on a farm near Irene, where he attended school. He was baptized and confirmed at Trondhjem Lutheran Church. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946, where he was stationed in Kobe-Honchu, Japan. Through the years he was involved with construction work, cattle trucking, gas station owner, operator and gas transport driver.

On Dec. 26, 1972, he married Joyce Petersen. They made their home in Sioux City, where he was a professional truck driver who worked at various trucking companies around Siouxland. Mr. Lee was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and the Siouxland Organ Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, spending time with their friends and family and socializing at the Riverboat. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and organ and dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Sioux City; a sister Ruth Hevle (Orin) of Brookings, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Darlene Lee, and an uncle, Orris Lee, both of Irene, S.D.; his children, Patty Kumm (Marlin) of Bloomfield, Neb., Judy Fischer of Tripp, S.D., Linda Goodvin (Mark Smail) of Maple Grove, Minn., and Larry Goodvin (Jody) of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepchildren, Joan Swanger (Terry) of Lawton, Iowa, Virgil Goodvin (Jackie) of Sloan, Iowa, and Bob Goodvin (Michelle) of Sioux City; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Merle Lee; a son-in-law, Gene Fischer; a stepson, Billy Goodvin; and a great-grandson, Garrett Goodvin.

All memorials should be sent to the Hospice of Siouxland.
