SIOUX CITY -- Siebert Cornelius "Andy" Andela, 81, of Canton, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Canton Good Samaritan.

Memorials services will be 2 p.m. today at Hudson Lutheran Church in Hudson, S.D. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Andy was born May 12, 1927, in Sioux County, Iowa, to John and Andrianna Andela. He married Beulah Wold in December 1946. Together, they had 11 children. He later married Sylvia in July 1986, in Sioux City.

Survivors include his 10 children, Joyce (Robert) Fitch, Jack (Cindy) Andela, Chip (Becky) Andela, Kenny (Betty) Andela, Lois (Kevin) Wagner, Chris (Tammy) Andela, Debbie (Kendal) Roti, Petra (Todd) Thorpe, Eva (Carter) Horner and Richard (Peggy) Andela; a son-in-law, Ronald DeSmet; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl (Georgia) and Pete (Lois); and a sister, Therissa (Gerben) TeSlaa.

He was preceded in death by Beulah; a daughter, Barbara DeSmet; a grandson, Timothy; and Sylvia.
