NORTH SIOUX CITY (Buried Sioux City)-- Joan A. Ketelsen-Voegeli, 72, of North Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at a local hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church, with Don Wood, CLS, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Joan was born July 10, 1936, in Wagner, S.D., the daughter of Herman and Elma (Giesbaiger) Gruis. She graduated from high school in Ravinia, S.D.

Joan drove school bus for 35 years with the Dakota Valley Schools, and retired in 2006 due to health. Joan devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and most recently, her dog Tucker. She enjoyed camping and fishing in the Black Hills and also at their campsite near Little Sioux, Iowa.

Joan is survived by her husband, Kenneth Voegeli of North Sioux City; eight sons, Randy McMillin and his wife, Ronica of Greeley, Colo., Ray McMillin and his wife, Lina of Sioux City, Rick McMillin of Sioux City, Bert Carver of Sioux City, Mike Carver of South Sioux City, Dave and his wife, Brenda Carver of Hinton, Iowa, Kip Divis and his wife, Donna of Rapid City, and Matt Ketelsen of North Sioux City; three daughters, JoAnn Carver and Ruthie Wallace of Lincoln, Neb., Kandy Taylor and Dave Nies of Lincoln and Jody and her husband, Steve Walker of Kansas City, Mo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Gruis of Sioux City, and Elgin Gruis of Jackson, Neb.; four stepchildren, Keith Voegeli and his wife, Tammi, Kevin Voegeli and his wife, Vicki, Kendell Voegeli and his wife, Christa, and Cindy and her husband, Jim Mellecourt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Denny and Tim Carver; three brothers, Harold, Calvin and Mike Gruis; a sister, Gloria Travelchek; and two stepchildren, Kent and Kyle.
