5 April 2009SIOUX CITY -- Della Smoot, 98, formerly of Sioux City, passed away March 26, 2009, at her home in San Jose, Calif.
Memorial services were held Friday, April 4, at Saratoga (Calif.) Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Central California.
Della was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., on March 17, 1911, to Lee and Sedalia (Johnson) Denny. Mrs. Smoot and her husband lived in Sioux City from 1965 until she moved to California in 1989. They were active members of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three children, Sarah Lee (Fred) Norman of San Jose, Calif., Dennis (Marianne) Smoot of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sandra (John) Nay of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smoot was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Smoot.
