SIOUX CITY -- Stenola L. Bluford, 71, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 22, 2009.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mayflower Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Stenola was born June 2, 1937, in Omaha, the daughter of Frank L. and Lummie L. (Gordon) Jones. She graduated from Tech High School in Omaha. She graduated from Blair College in Blair, Neb., and was an L.P.N.

She married Harold Bluford on Jan. 13, 1966, in South Sioux City. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Sioux City. She then graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She was employed with St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. She attended Briar Cliff College, where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing.

She was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church. She was a member of the Iowa Board of Nursing and was a parish nurse at the church. She was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues.

Survivors include three brothers, John Jones and Frank Jones and his wife, Barbara, all of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ronald Jones and his wife, LaNita of West Covina, Calif.; a stepson and his wife, Harold Jr. "Mickey" and Joy Bluford of Orlando, Fla.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Dawn and L.C. Ramsey of Racine, Wis., and Dayna and Thomas Nash of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Mildred L. Davis of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Grady Bluford of Sioux City; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
