SERGEANT BLUFF -- Joshua J. O'Neill, 27, of Sergeant Bluff died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at his home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Four Direction Community Center, 613 Water Street, Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com.

Josh was born March 28, 1981, at Fairbanks, Alaska. As a child, he moved with his family to San Bernardino, Calif., where he grew up and graduated from high school. Josh moved to South Dakota, where he met Megan Prue. They were married on June 19, 2001, at Chattanooga, Tenn. Together they made their home in Tennessee for a short time before moving to the Sioux City area. Josh joined the U.S. Army in 2005. He served in Iraq and received an honorable discharge in 2008.

He was a member of the American Legion, George Nelson Post 662 of Sergeant Bluff. Josh loved spending time with his wife and children. He enjoyed animals of all kinds. He liked to try anything, but especially enjoyed hockey, golf, fishing and martial arts.

Survivors include his wife, Megan O'Neill of Sergeant Bluff; a son, Devin O'Neill; two daughters, Raya O'Neill and Kelsey O'Neill, all at home; his father, Tom O'Neill of Nephi, Utah; and his father-in-law, Sam Prue of Sergeant Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
