DAKOTA DUNES --(Died Sioux City) Ronald Kuiper, 69, of Dakota Dunes died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at North Congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Noel Simpson officiating. Private family graveside services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Ron was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Pipestone, Minn., to Henry and Alvina (Zobel) Kuiper. He grew up and attended school in Pipestone, graduating in 1958. He came to Sioux City in 1967 and had been a resident here ever since.

He married Audrey Fischer on Aug. 12, 1961. Audrey passed away Dec. 12, 1982. He later married Conley Plautz at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Feb. 25, 1984.

He was employed with American Popcorn Company, as a flavor mixer for 18 and one half years, retiring in 2005. He had previously worked for Terrace Park Dairy, which later became Land O' Lakes from 1967 to 1978.

He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses North Congregation and very dedicated to the ministry. He enjoyed gardening, grilling for family and friends and helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Conley of Dakota Dunes; daughters, Vickey and Randy Barnes of Sergeant Bluff and Nancy and Mike Lunda of Sergeant Bluff; a son, Kevin Kuiper of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Teri Plautz and Verlyn Schuldt of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen and Linda Kuiper of Huron, S.D., and Bern and Joyce Kuiper of Rapid City, S.D.; and a sister, Mildred Kuiper of Watertown, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; a son, Danny; his parents; and eight siblings.
