SERGEANT BLUFF -- Richard L. Frazee, 81, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at a local hospital after a short illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 5206 Military Road, with clergy from Sunnybrook Community Church officiating. Burial will be in McCook Cemetery, North Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Richard was born in Stevens, S.D. and attended school at Sioux Point. On Jan. 29, 1949, he married Violet Shannon in Riverside. She passed away on July 27, 2002, in Sioux City.

He was raised in the North Sioux City area and lived in the area until 1990, when he moved to Danbury, Wis. He lived there until 2001, when he moved back to Sergeant Bluff, where he had resided since his return to the Siouxland area.

He served on the North Sioux City Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed pool and playing cards and was a member of the Riverside Cribbage Club. He also enjoyed taking walks, gardening, woodworking, automotive repairs and being a handy man.

Survivors include his children, Karen and Conrad Calsbeek of Le Mars, Iowa, Richard (deceased) and Brenda Frazee of Yankton, S.D., Kenneth Frazee of Minneapolis, Minn., Bonnie and Dave Solano of Chester Township, N.J., Janice and John Bach of Springdale, Ark., Dennis and Nancy Frazee of Omaha, Neb., Terry Frazee of Sergeant Bluff, Martin Frazee and Lisa Heath of Milpitas, Calif., Dean and Angela Frazee, Don and Kim Frazee and Lori and Ben Ludeking, all of Omaha; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters; three brothers; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; and six brothers.

Memorial may be made in his name to the family.
