SOUTH SIOUX CITY (Died Sioux City)-- Karon K. Quint, 63, of South Sioux City passed away Thursday March 5, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City, with the Masonic Chaplain Neil Peck officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church, with the Rev. Stephen Niles and Chaplain Neil Peck officiating.

Karon was born Sept. 3, 1945, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ralph W. and Dolores M. (Moore) Smith. She graduated from Leeds High School. She married George E. Quint III on Nov. 20, 1964, in Elk Point, S.D. She owned and operated The Shirt Shack in South Sioux City. She also was employed at the House of Flowers in South Sioux City, and with the South Sioux City Schools.

She was a member First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star and the Abu-Bekr Campettes. She enjoyed bowling, camping, being with her family and sharing special times with her grandson, Alex.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, George; two sons, George R. "Rod" IV and his wife, Sheryl Quint, and Todd W. Quint, all of South Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Steve and Betty Moore of Liberty, Mo.; a sister, Cheryl and her husband, Raymond Torres of Knickerbocker, Texas; a grandson, George A. "Alex" Quint V; and a special niece, Wendi Herron, and her son, Andrew and her husband, Bill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Moore; and a sister, Sharon Pippitt.

Pallbearers will be Dave Eral, Lynn Olsen, Chad Peters, Chris Rich and Chris Barber. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department.
