4 March 2009SIOUX CITY -- Johanna Mary "Jody" Holbrook, 78, of La Porte, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009. Miss Jody suffered a heart attack and quietly slipped away at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Jody was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Oct. 12, 1930, to Peter and Mae (Johnson) Vonbank.
After completing high school, she married Grant Holbrook Jr. on March 3, 1951. She later graduated in 1970 from nursing school at Western Iowa Tech Community College. She had a long career with Dr. Jones and several nursing homes in the Sioux City area.
She loved to skate in her younger years.
She is survived by her twin sister, Joanna Johnson; her sons, Grant Holbrook III and Gary Holbrook; a daughter-in-law, Judy Holbrook; granddaughters, Jacque Gilhousen and Abigail Gardner; grandsons, Bryan Holbrook and Christopher Lavendusky; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Grant.
