SIOUX CITY -- Donald Eugene Listman, 59, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Don "Donny" was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Sioux City, to Barbara Lohrman. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. He attended Winward Community College in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He lived most of his life in the Sioux City area. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served for four years of active duty, becoming a veteran of the Vietnam War.

After honorably serving his county, he lived in Hawaii for several years, where he married and had two children. He worked as a roofing contractor in Hawaii. He returned to Sioux City in 1981 and worked for Burlington-Northern Railroad.

He had many interests. He loved his dog, Sadie, his family and friends. He was a very hard working man and loved to help people with anything they needed done. He loved life and having a good time. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives were touched by him.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Lohrman of Sioux City; two brothers, Ronald (Penny) Listman of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Rodney Lohrman of Sioux City; a sister, Cindy Pedersen of Omaha; a son, Chad (Jamie) Listman of Kauai, Hawaii; a daughter, Lehua Listman of California; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.

The family has requested that memorials and flowers be sent to Waterbury Funeral Service, 400 Fourth Street, Sergeant Bluff, IA. 51054.
