SIOUX CITY -- Gary L. Gray, 66, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael J. Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Gary was born March 28, 1942, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Mabel (Oakley) Gray. The family moved to Sioux City in 1948. He attended schools in Sioux City.

In 1972, he was united in marriage to Roberta Swanger. They later divorced. Since the age of 14, he worked at area packing houses and in the 1980s, he started driving truck.

He enjoyed taking his kids fishing in the area.

He is survived by his sons, Gary Jr. of Moville, Iowa, and Jamie Gray and his wife, Amber of Sioux City; daughters, Rindy Jo Pula of Kelliher, Minn., and Brenda Oldenkamp of Gretna, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; a brother, James Gray and his wife, Tammie of Hinton, Iowa; a sister, Charlene Caraveau of Casper, Wyo.; and a half sister, Arlene DeVries of Columbia, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Troy Michael and Jennifer Gray; a grandson, Michael Christopher Gray; a sister, Carolyn Gray; and two nephews, Anthony and Joseph "Larry" Murphy.
