Glenn was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Sioux City, to Otto V. and Lena (Winter) Dinkel. In 1950, he joined the Sioux City Fire Department, from which he retired in August 1980. He married Mercedes Johnson, who preceded him in death in 1991.

He was an active member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple and the Wrecking Crew for more than 30 years. He enjoyed his membership to the Eagles Club. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, but without a doubt, he enjoyed country dancing above all else.
