ANTHON, Iowa -- Wilma Heinse, 89, of Anthon died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with the Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Wilma Erma Heinse was born July 31, 1919, on the family farm near Ute, Iowa, the daughter George and Anna (Goslar) Lee. She grew up and was educated in the Charter Oak, Iowa, area.

On Dec. 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to William Heinse in South Sioux City. The couple moved to a farm near Anthon, where they lived and worked until 1973. They then moved into Anthon. Bill died Jan. 8, 2003.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Midway as well as Ladies Aid. She enjoyed time spent quilting, reading, traveling and gardening. She loved playing cards but above all found her greatest pleasure in time spent with her family.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Kevin and Diane Heinse of Anthon; seven grandchildren, Terry Heinse of Anthon, JoLynn Heinse and her fiance, Clark Huffman of Anthon, Nickki and her husband, Mike Turpin of Sioux City, Sherrie and her husband, Craig Boyle of Danbury, Iowa, Karen Yockey and her fiance, Gabe Krusen of Danbury, James Yockey and his wife, Sherrie of Smithland, Iowa, and Alisha and her husband, Nick Greenfield of Hull, Iowa; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Johnson of Manchester, Iowa, and Shirley and her husband, Williard Lee of Somonauk, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Hildegard Ullrich and Carrie Henry; and numerous other friends.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Bill Johnson.
