24 February 2009SIOUX CITY -- Sara Louise (Kaplan) Kahn, 94, of St. Louis Park, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in St. Louis Park.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Sioux City, with Rabbi Hillel Greene officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Sara was born April 20, 1914, in Sioux City, the daughter of Abraham W. and Fanny Kaplan. She grew up in Sioux City, then lived in Connecticut for 10 years.
She married Victor Kahn on Dec. 29, 1935, in New York City. She also lived in Mankato, Minn., for 50 years and in Minneapolis for 12 years.
She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and a former member of Shaare Zion Synagogue.
She is survived by a daughter, Marion Herstein; two grandchildren and their spouses, Debra and Paul Chumsky and Jon and Kris Lebo; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Brenna and Nicholas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Arlene Lebo; and three brothers.
