SIOUX CITY -- Theodora June "T.J." Akerberg, 90, of Emerson, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

T.J. was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of Homer and Olive (Vardy) Weander. Most of her life, she lived and attended school in Sioux City.

She was married to Vern Akerberg until his death on March 2, 1975. To this union two sons were born, Robert and Gary. In 1986, T.J. made her home at Heritage of Emerson until her death. She loved to read and was an excellent cook.

Survivors include her sons, Robert "Bob" Akerberg and Gary and wife, Teresa Akerberg; grandchildren, Shanan, Mark and Courtney Akerberg, Melissa Akerberg, Shelly and Heather Akerberg, Ryan and Angela Akerberg; great-grandchildren, Caitelyn and Brodie, Annabelle, Abby and Alyssa; and several nieces and nephews.

The immediate family that went before her are her parents, Homer and Olive Weander; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hjalmer and Molly Akerberg; her husband, Vern Akerberg; a brother, Robert Akerberg; and a sister, Fran Bruneau.
