SOUTH SIOUX CITY ( Buried Sioux City) -- Darlene Breyer, 90, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at a South Sioux City Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Darlene was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harry and Della (Baker) Schlosser. She married August W. "Augie" Breyer on Oct. 16, 1941, in Valentine, Neb.

She was a longtime resident of South Sioux City. She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Aide, LWML and Lamplighters. She served 25 years on the South Sioux City Library Board.

She was a great cook, her specialty being sour cream raisin pie. Her hobby was bowling.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila and her husband, Gonzolo Curiel of Dakota City; two grandsons, Gonzolo Jr. of St. Paul, Minn., and Jordan of Dakota City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Charlene Kay Breyer; her husband, Augie on Jan. 25, 1993, in South Sioux City; a brother, Orval Schlosser; and a sister, Dorothy Josaitis.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Curiel, Steven and Richard Larson, Daryl Daum, Darwyn Glover and Lonnie Book.
