15 February 2009SIOUX CITY -- Alma C. Stabe, 91, of Sioux City died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Indian Hills Nursing & Rehab Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Alma was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Remsen, Iowa, to Dick and Anna (Koch) Kluver. She grew up on a farm in Remsen and graduated from Remsen High School in 1935.
She married Ruben Stabe II on Oct. 2, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. Ruben died Sept. 22, 2001, in Sioux City. Alma and Ruben farmed in the Hinton area for many years and then moved to Sioux City in 1968. Alma then worked at the Palmer House Restaurant until she retired.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Alma enjoyed reading and playing cards. She was a member of various clubs.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Miller of Claremont, N.C., and Mary Stultz and her husband, Don of Hinton, Iowa; a brother, Herman Kluver and his wife, Della of Remsen, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Lois Stabe of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard; a grandson, Richard Karl II; a great-grandson, Connor Stultz; two brothers, Edmund and Marvin Kluver; and a sister, Matie Moser.
Pallbearers will be Dennis and Randy Stabe, Dennis Kluver, Scott Petty, Ryan and Randy Ohl.
