Jacob Meuleveld, 78, of Sioux City died Sunday, August 8, 1999 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Berkemier Funeral Home, with the Rev. Schlesselman of Concordia Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Meuleveld was born April 30, 1921 in Sioux City, the son of Jacob and Josephine (Lutgen) Meuleveld. He attended Sioux City Schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1938 to 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to Sioux City.

He married Vonnie “Pat” Koeppe on December 31, 1946, in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Sioux City.

He was employed as a painter and decorator for various painting contractors, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 54 and Painters Union Local 214. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards,

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathy Mansfield of Omaha, Nebraska, Linda and her husband, Michael Van Maanen of Clarksville, Tennessee and Susan and her husband, Donald Vaughn of Sioux City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julia; two brothers, Paul his twin and Thomas and a sister, Dorothy Knight.
