Victor Robert McCaslen, 77, of Sioux City died Sunday, February 9, 2003 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community of Christ Church, 3232 Transit Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. McCaslen was born July 5, 1925 in Adair County, Iowa, the son of Charles Emmet and Mattie Larue (Johnson) McCaslen. He attended school at Stuart and Greenfield, Iowa. He continued his education, graduating from Morningside College in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.

He married Inez Allen on May 10, 1946, in Audubon, Iowa. Together they moved to Sioux City and have been here since. He was employed as an accountant at Pilleys and later worked for Peet’s Paint as a salesman. He retired from Sioux City Paint and Glass in the late 1980s.

He attended Community of Christ Church. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working with his hands, woodworking, crossword puzzles and traveling out west.

Survivors include his wife, Inez McCaslen of Sioux City; three sons and their wives, Larry and Karen McCaslen and Marty and Stephanie McCaslen, all of Sioux City and Kevin and Suzy McCaslen of Yukon, Oklahoma, a brother and his wife, Ernest and Jean McCaslen of Fontanelle, Iowa, eight grandchildren, Michelle and her husband, Scott Lilly, Matt McCaslen, Justin McCaslen and Ching Van, Jamie McCaslen, Josh McCaslen and her fiancée, Desiree Kvidera, Jasmine McCaslen, Nate McCaslen and Ashley McCaslen, a great-grandchild, Kaylee McCaslen and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Peggy McCaslen.
