26 December 1942A resident here for the last 37 years, Fritz S. Youngdahl, 56, 2733 Adel Street, died Saturday morning in a hospital following a 10-day illness. He was president the of Swedish Monitor Society.
Mr. Youngdahl was born in Varnland, Sweden, January 1, 1886. He came to the United States and directly to Sioux City in 1905. He was a boilermaker for the Omaha railroad and belonged to that railroad’s 30-year club. His wife died July 1, 1941.
Mr. Youngdahl also was secretary of Vasa Lodge and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the boilermakers’ union and the Scandinavian Societies.
Surviving are a son, Howard F. and a daughter, Mrs. Francis Stevens, both of Sioux City; two grandchildren; a brother, Philip of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Ingo Wiusthoff of Chewalah, Washington, three brothers and two sisters in Sweden.
The Nelson-Berger Funeral Home is directing funeral arrangement.
