Darrel D. Whitman
Darrel D. Whitman, 50, Sioux City, died Monday in Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Ander-Perasso Funeral Home. The services will be conducted by Jehovah's Witnesses. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Whitman was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Storm Lake, Iowa, and was a 40-year resident of Sioux City. He graduated East High School. A roofer for 20 years, he was employed with National Roofing for nine years.
Mr. Whitman was a paratrooper in the U.S Army from 1954 to 1958.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; two sons, David of Kando, N.D., and Gary of Norfolk, Neb.; three daughters, Lee Ann, Heather and Roxanne, all of Sioux City; a stepson, Carl Darville of Worthing, Minn.; four step-daughters, Donna Hutzeman of Mississippi, Mo., Shirley Strehl of Cherokee, Iowa, Babette Vaughn of Walhalla, N. D., and Anna Bell of Sioux City; a sister, Dono Kern of Wakefield, Neb. aand 16 grandchildren.
