EARL J. HACKETT

Earl J. Hackett, 74, died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls after a long illness.

He was born July 17, 1893, at Lydon, Kansas. He served with the Army in France in World War I, and moved to Sioux City after the war. He married Pearl Rogers, March 17, 1919, at Dakota City. She died in February, 1957.

He was employed at the Cargill-Nutrina Mills until his retirement in 1958. He was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church, and Monahan Post 64 of the American Legion.

Survivors inclide two sons, Earl W; and Carl L., both of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Brown and Mrs. Ruth Buddi, both of Sioux City; two brothers Carl of Sioux City and Orian of Redding, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Powell of Dakota City, and Mrs. Mae Beaubian of Chelsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside for Earl J. Hacket, 74.

The Rev. Harold V. Bartz, pastor of the Whitfield United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Park Cemetery. An American flag will be presented at the cemetery by Monahan Post, American Legion.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Carpenter, Gene Newton, Lloyd Gibbs, Al Poston, Joe Fleming and Rodney Broyhill.

Mr. Hackett died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls after a long illness.
