July 22, 1935 ~ August 20, 2019 (age 84)Arloa L. Dahl, 84, of Sloan, Iowa passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at CHI Health- Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian, officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private family burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Arloa Louise was born July 22, 1935 in Bronson, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Crawford) Carlson. She graduated from Bronson High School with the class of 1953.
Arloa and Morris Dahl were united in marriage on August 9, 1956 in Sloan, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Sue, Ann, and Marc.
She loved spending time with her family and was an excellent cook. She was well known for her Texas brownies and her sour cream and raisin pies. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers.
Arloa and Morris enjoyed working at the Sloan Drive-In with Emery and Sharon Killian for seven years. They enjoyed seeing and talking with the many customers and friends. They were also very active in the Siouxland Humane Society Auxiliary, and were recognized as the longest working members this past year.
Arloa was a member of the Smith-Rhodes American Legion Auxiliary Post #295 of Sloan, Iowa, and the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa where she was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Morris Dahl of Sloan, Iowa; two daughters, Sue Martin of Sloan, Iowa and Ann (Terri Thorn) Dahl of Menoken, North Dakota; one son, Marc (Amy) Dahl of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Paul Hendricks, Patrick Hendricks, Amanda Hendricks, Katie Dahl, and Marc N. Dahl; great-grandchildren, Cailey and Andrew Parker, Jordyn and Madelyn Hendricks, Kinzer, Kayla, Keaston, and Casie Jones; one sister, Janet (Ralph) Vaughn of Lakesite, Tennessee; one niece, Kari (Preston) Alexander Wilson of Rossville, Georgia; and several other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Minnie (Crawford) Carlson; and two sons-in-law, Jim Hendricks and Mike Martin.
