Wilma Lucille Rawlins, 89, died on February 22, 2009, at Kah Tai Care Center in Port Townsend, Washington.

Wilma was born on March 24, 1919 to Charles and Minnie (Rathbun) Hinkhouse on the family farm near Correctionville, Iowa. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1937. In 1938, she moved to Los Angeles, California. She married and later divorced Joseph Rawlins. In 1955, she moved back to Iowa to be with family until 1960 at which time she moved back to Los Angeles.

After working a short time for Northrop Aircraft Co., she was hired by Hughes Aircraft Co. and worked there until her retirement in 1981. In 1981, Wilma moved to Port Townsend to be close to her son and daughter-in-law.

Throughout most of her life, she was involved with her church in California at Calvary Church of Torrance and in Port Townsend, Calvary Community Church.

For many years she taught Sunday School and was part of Women’s Aglow ministries.

She enjoyed china painting, reading but especially spending time with her two granddaughters.

She is survived by her son Charles Rawlins (Linda) of Port Townsend, granddaughters, Sarah and Jessica Rawlins of Seattle and her sister Edna Anderson of Oakley, California.

Preceding her in death was her brother, Donald Hinkhouse of Correctionville, Iowa.

A memorial service was held on March 21, 2009 at Calvary Community Church in Port Townsend.
