Old Railroad Man Bead.
John G. Butterfield, aged seyenty-two years, and a former railroad man, was found dead in his room at the home of his son in Sioux City from the effects of gas fumes. It is supposed that he got out of bed during the night for some purpose and failed to turn off the gas entirely. Butterfield was financially interested in the building of the Dakota Southern railroad and for many years was master mechanic of the Milwaukee between Sioux City and Minneapolis. The town of Butterfield in Minnesota, near St. James, was named after him.
