OTO, Iowa - Vera A. Lee, 91, of Oto passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church in Holly Springs, Iowa, 2 1/2 miles south of Climbing Hill on Moville blacktop, with Pastor Jim Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.

Vera Alice Lee was born Feb. 9, 1918, the daughter of Ernie and Edna (Phillips) Weathers. She married Benton Jackson on Nov. 6, 1937. He passed away in May 1957. She married Jim Chilton in September 1963. He passed away in February 1970. She then married Veyrl Lee in February 1974. He passed away in July 1986. Vera stayed very busy raising her family and caring for her home. She also worked on the farm, cleaned houses and cooked at the school.

Vera was a past member of Happy Homemakers of Oto and Mites Society. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and growing flowers. She also loved to play cards.

Survivors who will cherish their memories of Vera include her children, Larry (Ann) Jackson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Barbara Chilton of Omaha, Charles (Gloria) Jackson of Oto, and Gary (Debbie) Jackson of Douglas, Wyo.; her stepchildren, Julie (Gerold) Grone of Wayne, Neb., Dorothy (Ike) Ortner of Mapleton, Iowa, and Dick (LaDonna) Hummel of Rapid City, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Chilton.
