Loraine L. VanCleave, 83, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at a South Sioux City care center.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, 6605 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Following the service Friday, please join the family at First Lutheran Church, 3601 Dakota Ave., South Sioux City, for a luncheon and reflection of her life. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Loraine was born Aug. 25, 1924, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Shelton N. and Mamie (Galves) Bowen. She attended school in San Antonio.

She married A.I. VanCleave on Sept. 29, 1947, in San Antonio. The family lived in several states before coming to Sioux City in 1963. She was employed as a unit secretary at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for a number of years.

She enjoyed watching movies and hardly ever missed Days of Our Lives and she loved American Idol. She looked forward to the precious time spent with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Kurt of Edwardsville, Kan., Greg and his wife, Debby of Spring Lake, Mich., and Maurice of Youngstown, N.Y.; a daughter, Pam McCloskey of Apopka, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Haven, Karinda, Halden, Eric, Erin, Leah, Nicolaus and Benjamin; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers; and five sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ardis Ingram on Sept. 14, 1987 while vacationing in Florida; and a daughter, Sharon VanCleave on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
