SIOUX CITY -- My husband, George, passed away peacefully in our home with God on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008.

That evening, our family gathered around George for a good-bye service with our Pastor Peter Boe from the Merrill, Iowa, St. John Lutheran Church. There will be no services. Remember George as you last saw him. Those were his wishes.

George and I (Joan Klave) almost made it to our 60th wedding anniversary. We had a good life with our children and their families. Blessings from heaven made this possible.

Our family members include our two children, daughter, Linda (Bob) Martindale and son, Randal. Grandchildren and their families are Sonia, Chad and Hayden Mathern; Kevin, Jamie, Brittany and Ashley Trometer; Amanda, Tim and Jared Webb; Heath, Amy, Kaeley and Hannah Trometer and Cameron Trometer.

George's siblings are Merlin (Delores); Delores Vanderham; Eileen (Melvin) Kolker; Ivan (Marilyn); Willard (Gloria); Avon (Eldon) Barnes; Karen (Robert) Pick; and two sisters-in-law, Anita Berkenpas and Judy Klave.

Welcoming George to heaven are parents, Edward and Martha Trometer; brothers, Milton and Eldon; and many more.

I now have wonderful memories. George and I spent 20 winters in Tucson, Ariz. We had the privilege of being one to three couples who formed "The Trometer Brothers Corporation" and "The GIM Partnership" with George's oldest brothers, Merlin, wife, Delores and his younger brother, Ivan, wife, Marilyn.

I met George more than 60 years ago where he was a young, handsome Marine. How proud he was to have served in the military.

Memorials may be sent to St. John's American Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 215, Merrill, IA 51038.
