26 October 2008SLOAN, Iowa -- Dolores Johnson, 90, of Sloan passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at a care facility in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Dolores was born June 15, 1918, the daughter of Elmer and Evelyn (Lamoureux) Brouillette. She graduated from St. Joseph School in 1935, and then went to cosmetology school. Dolores worked as a beautician in Sloan, and later Sioux City, until opening her own business, "Tiny's Beauty Salon."
After her retirement in the early 1980s, Dolores and Clyde spent winters in Yuma and summers in Alaska. She loved fishing, cooking and golf. Dolores was well-known for her way of cooking fish and making donuts.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde of Sloan; her sons, Larry Johnson and his wife, Mary of Sloan, and Stanley Johnson and his wife, Deb of Salix; her daughters, Judy Richardson and her friend, Rick Tieman of Sloan, Rita and her husband, Steve Mace of Girdwood, Alaska; and her stepdaughter, Sandra Richardson of Logan, Iowa; a brother, Earl "Skinny" Brouillette of Salix; four sisters, LaVon Tice of Fairfield Bay, Ark., Ella Belle Patterson of Sloan, Ouida Patterson of Salix, and Lois Holzman of Le Mars, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elaine Zwinger, Lillian Small and Iona Stoulp; and a grandchild, Donald Wittke.
