SIOUX CITY -- Paul A. Dibble, 80, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at a local nursing facility.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with the Rev. William J. Vit Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with rosary at 5 p.m. and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Paul was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Plainview, Neb., to Furman M. and Elizabeth (Eggerling) Dibble. He graduated from St. Ludgers Academy in Creighton, Neb., with the class of 1944. Paul helped on the family farm, working alongside his father until his father retired.

Paul and his brother, Ron moved to Sioux City across from the Cathedral of the Epiphany, and Paul began his career with Palmer Candy Company on Sept. 18, 1946. He started at the company by making cream centers for various chocolate products and in 1954, and took over leadership of the cream room operations. Palmer Candy Company estimates that Paul had personally produced 36,000,000 pounds of fine cream centers. Paul was indeed the "Center King" at Palmer's. The company states he was a truly amazing employee and an extraordinary man.

Although Paul never married, he shared his love with his family and co-workers, always bringing candy to his nieces and nephews at family functions, and was the uncle that took family movies with his movie camera.

He was a proud member of Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church in Sioux City and Legion of Mary Catholic Organization and would frequently visit Trinity Heights to enrich his spirituality. His loyalty to Palmer Candy Company was second only to his love for his Lord.

Survivors include a brother, Ron Dibble and his wife, Darlene of Sioux City; a sister, Josephine Gilbertson of Hayward, Calif.; local nephews, Bob Dibble and his significant other, Karen Leffler, and Roger Dibble, all of Sioux City; local nieces, Shari Dibble and Teresa Dibble-Eichmann and her husband, Jeff, all of Sioux City, and Joan Werner and her husband, Craig of Grimes, Iowa; numerous additional nieces and nephews in Missouri and California; and all his family at Palmer Candy Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Genevieve Mieczkowski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Heights.
