MOVILLE, Iowa -- Jens Arnold Pedersen, 82, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Moville, went to meet Jesus Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.

Memorial services will be noon Saturday at Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Schmautz officiating. Memorial services and entombment will be held in the spring 2009 in Moville.

Jens "Sonny" Pedersen was born in Lawton, Iowa, on May 26, 1926, to Jens and Marie Pedersen.

He married the love of his life, Peggy Grace Matney on May 14, 1949. The couple loved raising their children on the family farm in Moville. They started the Moville Evangelical Church of North America in their home on Fair Street. In 1971, he moved his family to Kalispell, Mont., to work in real estate. The family moved to Spokane in 1988, where he spent most of his time cultivating the beautiful flower gardens at the family's Old European restaurants. The hollyhocks and roses were his pride and joy.

He attended the Spokane First Church of the Nazarene. His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, fishing, but most of all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons and their wives, Jens L. and Pam of Spokane, Jan A. and Sulaine of Maple Grove, Minn., and Rick L. and Shelly of Spokane; his daughters and their husbands, Tami M. and Dave Sevier of Spokane and Amy R. and Mike Waitman of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Jens E., Jeremy, Jason, Jacalyn, Jamie, Phoebe, Melynnda, Kaston, Logan, Jordan, Kayla, Derek, MacKenzie, Brooklynn, Alan, Shanna and Lyndsey; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Tegin, Jordan, Seth, Hailey, Karli and Jens.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Peggy; a son, Robin; a grandson, Christopher; a granddaughter, Marlo; a brother, Jack; and sisters, Minnie, Rose and Lily.

Memorial funds may be contributed to Hospice of Spokane.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fairwood Northridge Assisted Living and the Hospice of Spokane for their loving help and support.
