28 October 2008SIOUX CITY -- Donald F. Perazzo, 87, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at an Omaha nursing home following a six month illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Omaha. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Roeder Mortuary in Omaha.
Donald F. Perazzo was born March 27, 1921, in Sioux City, the son of Frank and Lillian (Sierk) Perazzo. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1939. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard. He was an engineer for the radio station KSCJ, upon graduation from high school. He lived in Sioux City until 1945.
He married Frances Gammel on Sept. 1, 1943, in Omaha. In Omaha, he was chief engineer and announcer for stations KBON and W.O.W.
He was a lector and Eucharistic minister at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was president of the Amateur Ham Radio Club in Omaha and taught amateur radio to beginners. He also was an active coin collector.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; daughters, Joan Barmetter, Marlene and Duane Sullivan and Barbara Barna; a son, Ronald and Mary Perazzo; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, all of Omaha; and a sister, Evelyn (Ted) Alvey of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Omaha.
