17 May 2008Amy Fern Oliver, 103, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Embke of Morningside Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.
Amy Fern Himstreet was born Feb. 17, 1905, in Medora, Iowa, to Harry and Mable (Leonard) Himstreet. She attended and graduated from high school in Indianola, Iowa, and attended two years at Simpson College.
On May 12, 1934, she and Wayne Oliver were married in Maurice, Iowa. She taught school in Maurice from 1926 to 1934. She was a substitute school teacher in Sioux City from 1958 to 1970.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
She is survived by her son, Michael Oliver of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne in 1983; and two children in childbirth.
