21 October 2008SIOUX CITY -- Donna (Hook) Newburn, 57, of Waterbury, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.
Donna Marlene Hook was born May 30, 1951, to Robert and Maxine (Coontz) Hook. She attended Central High School in Sioux City.
On April 25, 1968, she and Robert Newburn were married in Sioux City. She was the owner and operator of Lil Red's Shack in Waterbury.
She loved doing art work, camping, fishing and spending time with her many friends and family.She is survived by her husband and best friend, Robert of Waterbury; daughters, Melissa and her fiance, Joe Samuelson of Waterbury and Brenda and her husband, Robert VandePoll of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Jan Maggart of Houston, Texas, and Tammie and her husband, Chad Demoney of Denver; five grandchildren, Lacy Newburn, Cortney Cayou, Jessica Newburn, C.J. Cayou, and Caylyn Cayou; and her beloved dog, Teddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jim Boyce; a sister, Sheryl Metz; and a brother-in-law, Ted Maggart.
Pallbearers will be Rick Hanson, Rob VandePoll, Chad Demoney, Cortney Cayou, C.J. Cayou and Caylyn Cayou.
