4 November 2008SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Carolyn S. "Kate" Loos, 68, of South Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lester H. and Fern L. (Weigel) Conley. She attended school in South Sioux City.
She married the love of her life, John F. Loos Sr. on Dec. 7, 1963, in South Sioux City.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Jr. of Dakota City and Michael and his wife, Karyn of New London, Minn.; three daughters, Susan and her husband, Dr. E.W. Filler of Brookings, S.D., Penny and her husband, Brad Patrick of Dakota City and Julie Loos of Sioux City; three brothers, Bruce Simmons of Atlantic, Iowa, Douglas Simmons of Crofton, Neb., and Leslie Conley of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Debra Theiman of Sioux City; and seven grandchildren, Amanda and Scott Filler, Devin and Jonathon Patrick and Shaeler, Monica and Lindsey Loos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John on April 13, 2003, in Sioux City; her parents; and a brother, Patrick Conley.
Pallbearers will be her children and their spouses and grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Edie and Gene Chester, Clarence and Ed Leffler, Doug Simmons, Bruce Simmons, Deb Theiman and Florence Loos.
