28 December 2008CUSHING, Iowa -- Helen M. Pedersen, 91, of Cushing died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in Correctionville, Iowa.
As per her wishes, she was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Cushing Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.
Helen Mae Pedersen was born Jan. 30, 1917, at Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of August and Alma V. (Beers) Hunwardsen. On Nov. 22, 1937, she married Arlo Pedersen at Hartley, Iowa. The family owned and operated a tank truck. Arlo worked as a mechanic. Helen also drove school bus for many years for the Cushing and Correctionville school districts. Arlo died Feb. 5, 1982.
Helen is survived by two brothers, Junior Hunwardsen and his wife, Betty, and George Hunwardsen, all of Correctionville; and three sisters, Margie Weghorst of Chicago, Ill., Shirley Leinbaugh of Independence, Iowa, and Gloria Schroeder of Tempe, Ariz.
Along with her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wilbur and Paul Hunwardsen; and a sister, Bonnie Strackbein.
