SIOUX CITY -- Douglas A. Bengford, 57, of Nixa, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, with full military honors. Douglas was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa, to Joseph and Dorothy Bengford. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from his job as a courier.

Survivors include his children, Herbert Bengford and his wife, Megan of Sioux Falls, S.D., Holly Bengford and her boyfriend, Jason Luck of Sergeant Bluff, Heath Bengford and his fiancee, Tiffin Teegarden of Nixa, Mo., and Hunter Bengford of Nixa; a grandson, Wyatt Bengford; two brothers, Mike Bengford of Irvine, Calif., and Milo Bengford of Sioux City; two sisters, Jean Hawthorne and Angela Georgen, both of Sioux City; and his mother, Dorothy Bengford of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; and his father, Joseph Bengford.
