IOUX CITY -- Dorothy M. Gray, 88, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Hillcrest Heath Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.

Private graveside services will be St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Danbury, Iowa. Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is assisting the family.

Dorothy Mary Treiber was born Sept. 24, 1920, to Antone and Nellie (Rosauer) Treiber in Danbury, Iowa. Dorothy worked at The Battery in Sioux City before she was united in marriage to Robert Gray on April 6, 1946, in Onawa, Iowa. Dorothy lived in Montana for a short period of time before moving to Sioux City, where she worked for IBP, the Woodbury County Jail and the Woodbury County Group Home.

After her retirement, Dorothy lived by her daughter in Clinton, Okla., for six years. Dorothy moved to Hillcrest Health Care Center in June 2003. She loved animals and being in the outdoors, working in her yard. Dorothy was a good helping neighbor.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Danny) Gietzen of Clinton, Okla.; three grandchildren, Sheryl (Scott) Roper of Amarillo, Texas, Carolyn (J.C.) Waller of Denver, Colo., and Bobbi Gietzen of Parker, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Roper and Anna Waller; and a sister, Leona Calhoun of Long Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brothers, Frank and Virgil Treiber; and a sister, Millie Dietz.
