CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Darold C. Hansen, 87, of Correctionville passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Darold, the son of Chris and Alvina (Clausen) Hansen, was born Feb. 14, 1921, on the family farm near Correctionville. His mother passed away when he was an infant. He was the youngest of eight children.

He married Donna Shever on May 30, 1943, in Nebraska.

His love of farming was his greatest enjoyment outside of his grandchildren. He looked forward to seeing little Ella coming to see him every Sunday.

He enjoyed fishing and many trips to Branson, Mo., with Donna. He never met a person that he didn't like.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Donna; a son and his wife, Randy and Kristin of Correctionville; a granddaughter, Erin Marie of Correctionville; a grandson, Austin Ray of Correctionville; a great-granddaughter, Ella Marie of Correctionville; two sisters, Ila Jorgenson and Ella Heliker of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Melba Hansen of Moville, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Darwin Shever of Correctionville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Knittel and Doris Hall; three brothers, Bill, Alvie and Emil Hansen; two brothers-in-law, Tony Knittel and Norman Jorgenson; and two sisters-in-law, Lily Hansen and Phyllis Hansen.
