L. Patricia Ryan, 82, of Sioux City died Friday, May 23, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Patricia was born March 20, 1926, in Salix, Iowa, the daughter of Milton and Eveline (Pepin) Small. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Salix. On April 30, 1946, she married George Ryan at St. Joseph's Church in Salix. She and George moved to Sioux City in 1947. She resided in Morningside for the last 57 years. During that time, she had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In recent years, her many church friends have been a wonderful source of strength and comfort as she overcame losses and health challenges.

She joined Security National Bank in 1959, where she enjoyed a career in banking. And as much as she thrived on the work, even more she cherished the many relationships that resulted. Even after retiring in May 1988, she continued to meet often with her co-workers, usually for breakfast or lunch.

She valued her family dearly and always kept them first in her heart. She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Bill) Heinemann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Randy Ryan (Melinda Barkley) of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Dan Lamb (Lisa) of Aurora, Colo., Chris Lamb (Eric Whitt) of Miami, Fla., Neely Ryan of Sioux City, and Shay Ryan (Tony Cote) of Sioux City; stepgrandchildren, Eric Heinemann (Kelly) of Cedar Rapids, Liddie Krebs of Cedar Rapids, and Zack Barkley of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Brady Lamb, Layney Lamb, Amarey Ryan, Makenzy Cote, Charles Krebs, Jack Krebs, Katie Heinemann and Ethan Heinemann; a sister, Marjorie Thomas (Frank) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Dale Washburn of Hornick, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Elaine Small of Sloan, Iowa, and Jana Small of Salix, Iowa; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; sisters, Charry Washburn and Mary Lou Zuver; and brothers, Milton Small and Francis Small.

A memorial has been established in her name.
