Roy E. Stevens, 77, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at a local hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Kretzchmar of Whitfield United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Stevens was born November 10, 1919 at Centerville, South Dakota to Hiram and Eva (Parker). He was raised in Centerville and moved to Sioux City in 1940. He married Dorothy D. Hoekman April 27, 1944 at Sioux City. He worked at Fairmonts Food until their closing. He worked for Holdcorft Trucking Co. and then for Midwest Cartage Co., retiring in 1981. He then worked for Marx Truck Lines and Siouxland Auto Auction.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Rita and Jerry Reistroffer of Sioux City; four sons, LeRoy and his wife Ellen of Storm Lake, Iowa, Charles and his wife Lorraine of Linnwood, Washington, Clyde and his wife Susan and Keith all of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bennie, a sister, Dorothy, a granddaughter, Michelle and a grandson, Shane.
