Arthur W. Weltz, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at a local hospital, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. A.T. Washington officiating. Burial will be Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Weltz was born November 17, 1910 at Anamoose, N.D. to John and Louise. He married Florence H. Theison November 2, 1935, at Elk Point, South Dakota. He worked at Cudahy’s Packing until it’s closing. He then worked for the U.S. Meat Grading Service until 1970. He then went into partnership with his son in Chef’s Delite, Inc., retiring in 1980. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling.

He was a former president of the Everett School PTA and a former Boy Scout leader at the school.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Michael and Mary of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Bill, John, Jim and Donald Brophy, Mike and Kelly Weltz, Laura Arnold and Raquel Beubian and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Brophy and three sisters, Edna Nolan, Ida Reitzer and Martha Wohel.

Pallbearers include the grandchildren.
