Mary was born in her parents' home on Polk Street in Leeds on Nov. 9, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Bornholtz) Nuessle. She grew up in Leeds on Harrison Street, where she met Charles F. Reibe, her neighbor, and they were married on June 10, 1934. To this union was born two children, Charlette and Patrick. Mary and Charles raised their children in the Methodist faith. After Charles' death in 1961, she continued to live in the house Charles built for her until she married Harold Baldes and moved to Le Mars, Iowa, and attended the Catholic Church with him.

Mary loved her family, and she enjoyed baking and cooking big Sunday dinners for family gatherings. The holidays, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day were always special because of her. She loved to watch the holiday parades on TV and was amazed by the beauty of the floats. Mary loved roses, with red being her favorite. Her son, Patrick always brightened her "Mother"s Day" with a new rose bush to plant for the season.

Mary loved to sew and crochet and made everyone in the family their own personal afghan. She enjoyed music and dancing, polka music and the Lawrence Welk show were tops on her list. Mary was a beauty, both inside and out, and her family's lives have been blessed because of her life.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Reibe and his wife, Cheryl; her daughter, Charlette Ann Reibe Haakinson; six grandchildren, Kathy and her husband, Jim Johnson, Mickey and his wife, Debbie Haakinson, Lynn Mozak and her special friend, Randy Nichols, Jeff and his wife, Jerri Haakinson, Tammie and her husband, Larry Roemer and Jessica Reibe; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Nuessle; and a sister, Alma (Nuessle) Melton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and her brother, Howard in World War II.
