Carol Redlinger, 80, formerly of Sioux City was called to heaven Friday, March 28, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Central Assembly of God Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Carol, the last of five children born to Merton and Persis (Bennett) Jerred, whose homestead was east of Millboro, S.D., was born April 3, 1927.

She married Edwin Benjamin Redlinger, the son of John and Magdalena (Auch) Redlinger, on June 22, 1948, in Mitchell, S.D. They made their home in Winner, S.D. Edwin started his own trucking business and she worked as a nursing assistant in the Winner hospital. She later decided to pursue her nursing career after they moved to Sioux City. She worked for nine years at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. She graduated with honors. After retirement, the couple became snowbirds, traveling to McAllen, Texas, annually. Eventually, they made McAllen their home. She remained a resident of Paradise Park, located in McAllen.

She is survived four children who loved her deeply, Duane Redlinger and his wife, Carol of Cleveland, Ohio, Marcia Blomberg of Ponchatoula, La. and her children, Kelly, Carey and Chuck of Mitchell, S.D., Jan and her husband, Kevin Burlette of Picayune, Miss., and their children, Kami and Ben, and Rita Moreci of Mandeville, La., and her children, Jennifer, Michael and Johnny; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Jerred of Winner, S.D., and Olive Redlinger of O'Neill, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Laurence Jerred of Gregory, S.D., James J. Jerred of Wewela, S.D., and Calvin Jerred of Winner, S.D.; Beth Redlinger of Boulder, Colo.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
